Miyoko Fuse

Miyoko is a native of Tokyo, Japan who has lived in Portland, Oregon for over 30 years. Miyoko offers home environment design and consultation with a unique background of Japanese cultural sensitivity and American practicality. She designs people-centered home with her motto of "healthy home = healthy mind".

Her focus on the relationship between communication skills and the home environment derives from her intercultural marriage with an American husband living in a US constructed housing. To overcome differences between the two cultures, she creates harmony between convenience oriented American lifestyle and Japanese simplicity by applying feng shui. That eventually became her life’s work.

She has a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from the Speech Communication Department at Portland State University and two Associate of Applied Science degrees from the Gerontology and Interior Design Department at Portland Community College. She also has a kitchen and bath design certificate from Portland Community College where National Kitchen and Bath Association has endorsed.

She is a Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS) who helps older adults stay in their homes and Certified Green Professional (CGP) who advocates sustainable and environmentally friendly building principles. Both CAPS and CGP are issued by the National Association of Home Builders. Home Esteem is a Elder Friendly Certified Business by Elders in Action.

She is trained in Feng Shui which is the art of arranging an existing environment into an atmosphere that promotes personal energy and calming fluidity. She is certified from Emerald Feng Shui Institute in Seattle which teaches the intuitive feng shui®. She is a member of International Feng Shui Guild.

She is an author of Healthy Home for Healthy Aging with Feng Shui.
